INLAYS & ONLAYS

FAQs:

Inlays and Onlays are dental restorations made from materials such as gold, porcelain, or composite resin.

They can be custom-made to fit a specific tooth and are used to repair damaged or decayed teeth.

WHAT ARE INLAYS & ONLAYS, AND HOW DO THEY DIFFER FROM TRADITIONAL FILLINGS?

An Inlay is a restoration that fits inside the cusp tips of a tooth, while an Onlay covers one or more of the cusps.

An onlay covers more of the tooth than an inlay.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INLAYS & ONLAYS?

The placement of Inlays and Onlays usually requires two appointments. During the first appointment, your dentist will prepare the tooth and take impressions to create a custom restoration.

A temporary restoration may be placed on the tooth until the permanent restoration is ready. The permanent restoration is bonded to the tooth during the second appointment.

HOW ARE INLAYS & ONLAYS PLACED?

During a consultation visit and initial evaluation, our dentists,  Dr. Frank Vidjak can determine if a patient is a good fit for an inlay or onlay.

These restorations are custom-made for patients and cover more of the tooth structure for better protection and functionality.

If the damage to the smile is more significant, patients may be better suited for a traditional dental crown instead.

Who is a candidate for an inlay or onlay?

Very professional staff, and Dr. VIDJAK is a professional that looks into details and never done until he has achieved perfection. I highly recommend this office these doctors and the staff.
