Our crowns are designed and fabricated to last a lifetime. However, how you care for crowns and any other dental work matters. Crowns don’t require special care, though. Just continue to brush and floss them as you would your natural teeth. Professional dental cleanings also remove what can’t be removed with your toothbrush and floss (stubborn plaque build-up or tartar). We also advise on other good habits and behaviors to support the long “life” of your cosmetic crown. For instance, avoid biting down on hard objects like ice and popcorn kernels to prevent accidental fractures. Don’t use your teeth as “tools” to open packages, and if we suspect that you are grinding your teeth at night, custom night guards or oral splints protect your crowns and teeth from future damage.
