Few treatments available to modern dental professionals are as transformative as dental implants. Additionally, not all dentist’s offices in Beverly Hills, California and elsewhere are equipped to offer this life-changing form of tooth replacement.
We at Beverly Hills Advanced Specialties of Dentistry are led by two specialists, Drs. Frank Vidjak and Fanny Yacaman. As a prosthodontist, Dr. Vidjak is skilled at rebuilding portions of damaged teeth and entire teeth with precision techniques. Likewise, as an endodontist, Dr. Yacaman may be able to preserve deeply infected teeth with root canal therapy or advanced surgical endodontic treatments. In doing so, she can prevent the need for tooth replacement with dental implants.
We empathize with our patients who are missing teeth. We understand that they feel embarrassed about how they look. They may even be so apprehensive about tooth loss that they hold on to aching, damaged teeth. Patients with badly damaged teeth or gaps in their smiles often battle through confidence issues, lose pleasure in eating and are limited in what they can eat due to pain or discomfort caused by tooth loss and natural shifting of the neighboring teeth.
In addition to the tendency for teeth to shift toward any gaps where a tooth used to be, complications from tooth loss also include bone loss (resorption). Bone loss can make functional problems with eating and speaking even worse. It can also cause the lower portion of the face to collapse due to the deterioration of facial bone. This process can make individuals look older than they actually are.
As a form of tooth replacement, dental implants can revitalize every aspect of your life! They do so by resolving the complications that are associated with tooth loss. With prompt tooth replacement, we can even avoid those complications. For instance, implants keep the bone in the jaw strong so that destructive resorption is prevented. Other forms of tooth restoration do not recreate the natural structure and function of the teeth to maintain the strength and density of supportive bone.
Also, Dr. Vidjak may be able to place a provisional denture immediately following the extraction of teeth that cannot be preserved through other methods. That means you never have to live with gaps in your smile! We can fill those gaps promptly.
Once placed in the jaw and healed to the surrounding bone, implants function like tooth roots. In turn, they can be used to stabilize or “root” a single tooth, several teeth, or an entire upper or lower denture in place. The crown, bridge, or denture is attached to the implant. Our patients appreciate that their new teeth look like real teeth, and they can be cared for just as easily with no special maintenance or products. With good oral hygiene, implant-supported teeth can last a lifetime.
